Dr. Tim Orr is a researcher, writer, and educator whose work focuses on Islamic antisemitism, Shiite political Islam, and the intersection of religion and politics. He holds a Master of Arts in Islamic Studies from the Islamic College London, where he concentrated on Islamic theology, history, and contemporary Muslim thought, as well as a Doctor of Ministry degree.
His research focuses on Islamic antisemitism, Shiite political theology, and Iranian revolutionary thought. He gives particular attention to the ways anti-Jewish narratives shape religious and political movements. His interest in these questions grew out of years of studying within Shiite academic settings and engaging Muslim scholars on issues of religion, politics, and identity.
Orr is the author of the forthcoming book What Antisemitism Explains: Why Societies Blame Jews for Their Unfinished Dreams, which examines antisemitism as a recurring explanatory system through which societies externalize responsibility for political, moral, and historical failure. He has lectured, presented research, and participated in academic dialogues at institutions and forums including the University of Oxford, Imperial College London, Indiana University Columbus, and the University of Tehran.
His current work explores the religious and ideological foundations of antisemitism, especially within Islamist and revolutionary movements, and the ways anti-Jewish narratives continue to shape contemporary political thought.
