Professor Donna M. Gitter is a Professor of Law at Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business, City University of New York, located in New York City. She has published numerous articlesnrelating to judicial and legislative responses in the European Union and the United States to issues at the intersection of medical technology and ethics, such as biotechnology patenting, genetic research, and assisted reproduction. These articles have appeared in publications such as the Berkeley Journal of International Law, Columbia Science and Technology Law Review, Duke Journal of Comparative and International Law, New York University Law Review, and the University of Pennsylvania Journal of International Law.
Professor Gitter was awarded a Fulbright-SyCip Distinguished Lecturing Award for the 2016-2017 academic year for teaching in the Philippines. She has also won several research grants and teaching awards, including the 2016-2017 Outstanding Honors Teaching Award for the Macaulay Honors College at Baruch College. She has been invited to present her work at international conferences in Europe and Asia, as well as in the United States.
Professor Gitter is the President of the CUNY Alliance for Inclusion, a diverse group of educators at the City University of New York who believe in Israel’s right to exist and are committed to working toward a collegial academic community free of bias and intimidation. In that role, she speaks in defense of Jewish and Israeli students, faculty, and staff, helps plan programming that brings diverse voices to campus, and collaborates with Jewish community organizations to advance our common policy goals.
Professor Gitter graduated Phi Beta Kappa and cum laude from Cornell University’s College of Arts and Sciences, where she earned a B.A. in Government. She earned her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Professor Gitter is a recipient of the 2026 ISGAP Faculty Fellowship Training Program: Combatting Holocaust Distortion and Global Antisemitism.
