Cary Nelson is Jubilee Professor of Liberal Arts & Sciences Emeritus at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an affiliated faculty member at the University of Haifa. He has an honorary doctorate from Ben Gurion University of the Negev. He is the author or editor of 35 books, including five about the intersection of antisemitism and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Not in Kansas Anymore: Academic Freedom in Palestinian Universities and Peace & Faith: Christian Churches and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict were each published in 2021. He is presently working on two new authored books, one on the relationship between academic freedom and antisemitism and one on the international history of antisemitic poetry, with special emphasis on the Third Reich. He is a former national president of the American Association of University Professors.
