John Solomos is Professor of Sociology and Head of Department at the University of Warwick. He has held Professorial positions at the University of Southampton, London South Bank University, and City University London. At an earlier stage in his career he worked at Aston University, University of Warwick, and Birkbeck College. He has served on the Strategic Research Board of the ESRC, and was a member of the RAE Panel in Social Policy in 2001 and the REF Sub-Panel in Sociology for the REF 2014.He has researched and written widely on the history and contemporary forms of race and ethnic relations in Britain, theories of race and racism, the politics of race, equal opportunity policies, multiculturalism and social policy, race and football, and racist movements and ideas. Professor Solomos also sit on the International Academic Board of Advisors for ISGAP, the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy and is joint-editor with Martin Bulmer of the journal Ethnic and Racial Studies, which is published 12 times a year by Routledge.
