Research institute hails the vote as a ‘critical step toward dismantling the Muslim Brotherhood’s strategic entryism in Europe,’ and calls for swift executive action by the Dutch government
NEW YORK, New York — March 17th, 2026 — The Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy (ISGAP) welcomes the decision by the Dutch House of Representatives to adopt a motion calling for a ban on the Muslim Brotherhood and its affiliated organizations in the Netherlands. The motion, received 76 votes and cites the movement’s long-term goal of establishing an Islamist state through the infiltration of Western institutions.
This landmark vote in the Netherlands follows a similar resolution adopted by the French parliament on January 22, signalling a growing European consensus against the threat of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Dutch motion specifically references findings from a French government report warning of the Brotherhood’s “subtle, long-term infiltration” designed to subvert democratic societies. It follows President Trump’s executive order designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a terror organization.
Dr. Charles Asher Small, Founding Director of ISGAP, said:
“The Dutch House of Representatives has taken a historic step to confront the threat posed by the Muslim Brotherhood’s transnational ideological project. We are currently at the halfway point of the Brotherhood’s 100-year strategic plan to entrench itself within key Western democratic countries and institutions, to undermine democracy from within. By adopting this motion, the Netherlands recognizes that the Brotherhood exploits the very freedoms of liberal democratic societies, such as the basic notion of citizenship and equality under one legal system, regardless of race, religion, or gender, as strategic vulnerabilities. This decision builds on the momentum we have seen in the United States. ISGAP now urges the Dutch government to act decisively on this parliamentary mandate, ensuring that the necessary legal and executive steps are taken to finalize this ban and protect the constitutional state from anti-democratic ideological capture”.
On November 19, 2025, ISGAP held a high-level policy workshop in Washington DC coinciding with the publication of its landmark report, The Muslim Brotherhood’s Strategic Entryism into the United States: A Systemic Analysis. The report documents the Brotherhood’s long-term ideological campaign to exploit Western freedoms and undermine democratic practices and culture from within, and called for the designation of the Muslim Brotherhood as a terror organization.
Just days after the release of ISGAP’s groundbreaking report, President Trump signed an executive order directing the State Department and the Treasury Department to begin the process of designating certain chapters of the Muslim Brotherhood.
ISGAP continues to brief governments and national security professionals around the globe, on the findings of its research and on policy options for confronting Islamist extremism while safeguarding core democratic principles.
