The Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy (ISGAP) condemns the horrific terror attack at a Chanukah gathering in Bondi Beach, where dozens of innocent people were murdered or injured.
Dr. Charles Asher Small, Founding Director of ISGAP, said in a statement:
“ISGAP offers its deepest condolences to the victims of the Bondi Beach massacre, to their families, and to the entire Australian Jewish community. We stand with you in this moment of profound grief and shock.
This is the violent outcome of an ideological and political climate that has been normalized. Antisemitism in Australia has not simply increased but has been fueled by extremist groups, foreign funded influence networks, and activists aligned with radical antisemitic worldviews. These forces have spent years injecting hostility toward Jews into public discourse, university environments, and the media of record. This tragedy is the direct result of not only ignoring these developments but enabling them.
ISGAP research has shown how Islamist regimes that promote the Muslim Brotherhood ideology use soft power investments to advance anti-democratic and radical ideological agendas that undermine the foundations of democratic society and in doing so target Jewish communities. These networks have gained footholds in Western institutions, including Australian universities. By failing to address this, policymakers allowed a dangerous ideological ecosystem to take root. Antisemitism is not a parochial issue but a direct assault on the stability and fabric of democratic life.
ISGAP stands firmly with the Jewish community of Australia and remains committed to exposing and confronting the ideological structures that fuel antisemitic hatred.”
