Academic Affairs Manager

Job Description

ISGAP is seeking a full-time Academic Affairs Manager based in Cambridge, UK, to support the expansion of ISGAP’s academic, scholarly, and institutional initiatives in Cambridge, nationally and internationally. The position will play a central role in developing academic partnerships, supporting scholarly research, publications, and programming to and advance ISGAP’s engagement with leading scholars, academic institutions, and policy communities in the UK and beyond. The Academic Affairs Manager and will contribute to strengthen ISGAP’s intellectual presence and facilitating collaborative research, academic programming, and scholarly exchange.

The preferred candidate will have experience in academic environments and demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal, and strategic coordination skills, with an understanding of contemporary antisemitism and related academic, policy, and public discourse.

About ISGAP:
The Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy (ISGAP), established in 2003, is the preeminent international research center for the critical study of contemporary antisemitism. ISGAP works to develop and legitimize the academic discipline of contemporary antisemitism studies through interdisciplinary research, curriculum development, education, and policy engagement. ISGAP maps, decodes, and combats antisemitism through scholarly research, international academic programs, publications, and engagement with policymakers and civil society. With global programs and partnerships at leading academic institutions, ISGAP plays a central role in advancing scholarship and policy responses to contemporary antisemitism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with faculty, researchers, academic departments, and research centers at the University of Cambridge and across the UK.
  • Support the growth and engagement of ISGAP’s academic network, including scholars, fellows, and academic partners.
  • Create and assist in the creation and development of academic programming and publications.
  • Engage ISGAP fellows, alumni, and affiliated scholars to strengthen ongoing academic collaboration.
  • Identify and develop opportunities for academic cooperation, visiting scholars, and collaborative research initiatives.
  • Serve as a key academic liaison representing ISGAP within Cambridge and the national and international academic community.
  • Work closely with the Managing Editor to support the development and growth of ISGAP’s International Journal of Alterity, as well as other ISGAP publications.
  • Support efforts to solicit high-quality manuscript submissions from established and emerging scholars.
  • Assist in organizing academic and policy-related events, roundtables, and scholarly discussions, and other programming events.
  • Work closely with ISGAP leadership to implement strategic academic and institutional priorities.

Qualifications:

  • University-based experience
  • An advanced degree in a relevant academic field is preferred; candidates with substantial graduate-level training will also be considered.
  • Strong familiarity with academic environments, particularly within the UK and/or University of Cambridge context.
  • Demonstrated experience in academic engagement, scholarly coordination, or research-related initiatives.
  • Experiences in programme development in an scholarly context.
  • Understanding of contemporary antisemitism and antisemitism studies strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills within academic and institutional settings.
  • Experience working in international and multicultural environments.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with international teams.
  • Experience supporting academic publications, journals, or editorial processes preferred.
  • Professional, proactive, and strategic mindset.

Program Coordinator

Job Description

The Program Coordinator at the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy (ISGAP) will play an essential role in supporting and coordinating the execution of ISGAP’s programming initiatives. This role involves detailed planning, organization, and management of logistics for events, conferences, seminars, and workshops. The Program Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Academic Affairs to ensure the seamless execution of ISGAP activities and will contribute to the continuous enhancement of ISGAP’s
programs.

The ideal candidate will be a highly organized and detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple responsibilities and collaborate across various teams to achieve ISGAP’s mission. It is a full-time position based in Cambridge, with remote support to be provided for some of the international activities, such as online learning, of ISGAP.

The mission of ISGAP is to develop and legitimize critical contemporary antisemitism studies within the academia, so as to develop curriculum, education, public discourse, and policy in regard to the study of contemporary antisemitism.

Historically, antisemitism has often found fertile ground within academia, where it is currently growing exponentially. As higher education is a vital institution in society shaping public discourse and policy, ISGAP, through high caliber research, maps and decodes processes of contemporary global antisemitism, including the demonization of Jewish peoplehood and Israel.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Program Coordination:

  • Assist in the planning, organization, and execution of ISGAP’s academic programming, including conferences, workshops, and events.
  • Coordinate event schedules, communicate with participants, and manage program timelines to ensure successful delivery.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for program-related inquiries from participants, speakers, and other stakeholders.

2. Event Logistics:

  • Assist in the planning and overseeing of logistics for both in-person and virtual events, including venue selection, catering, accommodation, and equipment management.
  • Manage virtual event platforms and technical coordination, ensuring a smooth participant experience.
  • Collaborate with ISGAP’s senior leaders and Programming leads to ensure that all logistical elements are executed efficiently and within budget.

3. Communication and Participant Management:

  • Manage communication with event participants, speakers, and other stakeholders, ensuring that all relevant information is provided in a timely and clear manner.
  • Handle participant registration, accommodation, and travel arrangements, addressing any concerns or questions as needed.

4. Vendor Management:

  • Identify, negotiate, and coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of services and resources for events.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with vendors and monitor contract performance.

5. Operational Support:

  • Provide operational support to ensure smooth execution of ISGAP’s programming, including
    resource allocation, technical support, and coordination with external parties.
  • Assist with the preparation of program materials and ensure their availability for events.
  • Contribute to post-event evaluations and reports to assess performance and identify areas for
    improvement.

6. Administrative Assistance:

  • Maintain accurate records of logistical arrangements, program budgets, and participant information.
  • Support the Director of Programming and Operations in administrative tasks related to programming, including document preparation, report generation, and file management.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Social Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in program coordination, event planning, or logistics management.
  • Understanding of antisemitism or experience working with issues related to antisemitism is a strong
    plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with virtual event platforms.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with academic programming or nonprofit environments is a plus.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Willingness to work outside regular office hours when necessary to support program needs.
