Michael Whine is a Senior Consultant at the World Jewish Congress. He was previously the Director of Government and International Affairs at the Community Security Trust, where he was based for 35 years.
 
UK and Bureau Member of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI), a standing commission of the Council of Europe that advises Member States on human rights matters, and inspects their compliance with the European Convention on Human Rights. Chairman of the ECRI Working Group tasked with renewing General Policy Recommendation No.9 on combating antisemitism.
 
Member of the UK Government Independent Advisory Group on Hate Crime, the London Crown Prosecution Service Hate Crime Scrutiny and Involvement Panel, and former Lay Advisor to the Crown Prosecution Service Counter Terrorism Division.
 
Occasional representative of the UK Government at conferences of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE ODIHR), and of its National Point of Contact on Hate Crime meetings.
 
Author of 40 articles and book chapters in peer-reviewed scholarly publications on antisemitism, extremism, terrorism and government responses.
